Blessings
What is a blessing?
Something beautiful that God bestows on us.
Or, is it something we give to ourselves and to others?
I heard an American Indian say that we must remember to thank the
Great Spirit of Life for all the blessings that we have -- the blessing
of life, of air, of wind, of son, of water -- that we must never take
these for granted. I agree with him.
We are each blessed every day we live because there is something
beautiful waiting to be discovered if only we can fully open our eyes
to see. We often wear such blinders that we live in the dark, rather
than see the light.
We need to work hard to open our hearts to what is there before us,
to receive all the beauty awaiting us. But, too often, we live in
darkness with closed hearts and minds.
I thank God for all that has been given to me -- my life, my ability
to see and learn, for my family, for my good work, for my searching-
ness, for my love of life. If only I can overcome myself to fully
open my eyes and see all that is there for me, waiting to be
discovered and acknowledged.
What are your own blessings? What do you receive?
