Dear Reader,

View this page as a place where you and I can have a conversation on subjects that are meaningful to both of us. On a regular basis I plan to post a topic or question on my mind which I encourage you to respond to (see below).

On this same page you will also find some of the responses that have been sent in by those who have viewed this web site. Please feel free to submit your own questions and thoughts which I might comment on and share with other viewers. I truly look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

WRITER PROMPT: What Cause Do You Support?

With the holiday season upon us, this is the time of year when so many nonprofit groups write to us asking for donations to support their causes — whether it’s the public library, or peace worker groups, or organizations that feed the hungry and poor. Sadness sets in when we realize that our funds are limited and we cannot give money and support to every cause.
But let’s think another way: What if we had an unlimited amount of money to support the cause we think most important to our lives and which would make the world better. If that were the case, what cause or group would you support and why? (Perhaps, in your own way, you already support an important group; if so, tell us about it, too.)
Please share your thoughts with us.

I support causes that are meaningful to me. I support two local homeless groups since I feel that life’s structure is very precarious and I’m aware it could be me that has lost my bearings. I spent years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in West Africa, so I support One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) and a soccer program in Africa that fights aids. And since I earn my living educating kids online, I support NetFamilyNews.org as the best information source for safety for families online.
