I was moving in a glass-enclosed swimming pool this week early in the morning when it was still dark out, and suddenly I heard the lifeguard say, ”Look at the sunrise — it’s free!” And I thought to myself how wise he was to say that, to appreciate something that was right before his eyes and to enjoy the glory and beauty of what he saw — and it didn’t cost him a penny. His cheerful enthusiasm drew me out of myself and made me feel good.
So, I ask you to take a moment to think about the things in your life that are free and which also give you much pleasure and joy, and to write them down so you don’t forget in those times when you’re feeling gloomy and uncertain.

These Joyful Times
I want to have a good time when I’m happy but sometimes it ends up being all wrong and as planned. But I try to keep my hopes up for something great. A few days ago I had the worst day and then my day went great in the end because we all went to a county fair out in the country. Being Joyful is not as easy as it looks, if you try too hard it will go bad but if you let life take its course things will go as it was planned. Just like me, I love being happy in all its glory. But it is true that I have stumbled on my trail, but hey? What do I know?
